Contemporary Abstract Collage
Explorations of intuitive collage using a variety of materials.
This project all began with an intertwining of inspirations. A lifetime appreciation of Kate Bush and Cordula Kagemann’s Process and Possibilities, Connecting through Collage course.
The resulting artworks are a response to music, lyrics and the connections I have developed to the process of collage to express my feelings and influences. My intuitive focus is on freedom, as life begins to return to normal.

The Big Sky
The Big Sky is 50cm in diameter. It is created on stretched canvas. I have signed it on the side so that you may view it any way up.
To me, The Big Sky is a seascape. Rocks litter the lower part, while sands, shingles, tides and breakwater posts are scattered under a seagull-filled sky. There is much here to discover or just to view as a balanced whole.

King of the Mountain
King of the Mountain is an abstract mixed media landscape.
A small, resilient tree stands on a mountain top, crowned by flocks of circling birds. This is one of a series of three circular canvases that celebrate freedom.
King of the Mountain is 40cm in diameter and is created on stretched canvas.
The viewer can observe the scene from a ‘bird’s eye view’ or from a more conventional perspective.
The title of this artwork is also inspired by a Kate Bush song title.

Song of a Humpback Whale
Song of a Humpback Whale is the third abstract mixed media artwork celebrating freedom.
The viewer can see a humpback whale below the waves, accompanied by paper-cut swimmers, peacefully enjoying the space and calm underwater environment.
Above the sea, flocks of birds circle, waves crash - freedom of a different kind.
Song of the Humpback Whale is a 40cm diameter on stretched canvas.
