Collage enhanced Semi-Abstract Treescapes
These semi-abstract mixed media artworks are a joy to create.
Collage features in many of my artworks but it is especially prominent in this project. I love the serendipity of the captured newsprint and vintage ephemera. Ink adds to the excitement of these works; the papers absorb differently, and the final effects are unpredictable. What a fabulous start to each artwork!
Oils pastels, fineliner pen and acrylic paint are also applied to create bold, vibrant scenes. The larger ‘Beech Shadow’ series are varnished and mounted.
Beech Shadows
‘Beech Shadow I’ and ‘II’ are the remaining pair in this series. Focusing on the play of light and shadow in a wood, I have used collage and inks to create depths and textures for this vibrant semi-abstract. I enjoyed making this series and became thoroughly lost in time amongst these unique trees!
